Now, somehow, I managed to get it working once or twice by then re-enabling 32-bit disk drives, rebooting, getting the error, rebooting again and then somehow the OS boots up with a non-fatal error message that I can just close. This works in allowing the OS to boot normally, but obviously it disables the D: optical drive for me to be able to run the game's image. I managed to get Win98 running, but after looking around online, apparently if you're running VirtualBox on an AMD Ryzen CPU, the only way to avoid a missing shell32.dll error is by running in Safe Mode and checking "disable all 32-bit protected-mode disk drives". ![]() Hey, I recently found an old CD with a childhood game, and that got me into attempting virtualization with VirtualBox.
